                新华网华盛顿5月18日电 （记者易爱军　冉维）美国总统奥巴马18日下令对叙利亚总统阿萨德等7名政府高官实施制裁。　
       
                奥巴马签署总统令说，鉴于叙利亚政府对叙利亚民众使用的暴力“持续升级”，他下令自18日中午起对包括总统阿萨德、副总统沙雷、总理萨法尔以及内政部长和国防部长在内的7名叙利亚政府高官实施制裁，冻结他们在美国境内的资产。
       
                奥巴马同时授权美国财政部长与国务卿一道根据其命令对更多叙利亚政府高官和实体采取制裁措施。
       
                叙利亚自3月18日起爆发大规模游行抗议活动。在一些地方，示威者与军警发生冲突，造成人员伤亡。奥巴马4月29日曾下令对包括阿萨德之弟在内的三名叙利亚政府高官、情报机构以及向叙利亚政府提供物资支持的伊朗伊斯兰革命卫队下属“耶路撒冷部队”实施制裁。
       
                2004年5月，时任美国总统布什以支持恐怖组织为由下令对叙利亚实施制裁，包括禁止向叙利亚出口除食品和药品以外的任何产品，禁止美国企业在叙利亚投资，冻结叙利亚在美国资产。去年5月，奥巴马宣布延长这些制裁措施。
