　　10月9日至12日中国共产党第十七届中央委员会第三次全体会议在北京召开。会后发布了第十七届中央委员会第三次全体会议公报。公报确认了未来农村改革的主要方向，包括积极发展现代农业，提高农业综合生产能力;加快发展农村公共事业，促进农村社会全面进步等。

        　　The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Sunday approved a
decision on major issues concerning rural reform and development at the close of
a four-day plenum.
        　　为期四天的中国共产党中央委员会全体会议于周日(10月12日)结束，会议就农村改革与发展等主要问题达成决议。
        　　上面的报道中，The Communist Party of China (CPC) Central
Committee就是“中国共产党中央委员会”的英文全称;plenum就是我们要说的“全体会议”或“全会”的英文说法，plenum在英文中的解释是a
meeting of a deliberative assembly in which all members are
present(决策机构/组织全体成员都出席的会议)，它的形容词形式是plenary，那么“第十七届中央委员会第三次全体会议”就是the third
Plenum(Plenary Session) of the 17th Communist Party of China Central
Committee。
        　　与plenum意思相对的词是quorum，a gathering of the minimal number of members of an
organization to conduct business，即“法定(最少)人数”，例如：What is the quorum of this
assembly? (该会议的法定人数是多少?)
