生活中经常使用的英语因为受到汉语的影响许多都不地道，甚至在母语是英语的人看来会有歧义。本期Careful就来纠正我们平时经常挂在嘴边的“中式英语”。
“……用英语怎么说?”
错误：How to say…?
正确：How do you say this in English?
例句：
- Lyn, how do you say“大片儿”in English?
- You could say "blockbuster".
- 林，英语怎么说“大片儿”呢?
- 可以说“blockbuster”。
其它类似说法：
How do you spell that please?
请问这个词如何拼写?
How do you pronounce this word?
请问这个单词怎么读?
“你愿意参加我们的晚会吗?”
“join”往往是指参加俱乐部或者协会，如：“join a club; join the Communist
Party”。而常常与“party”搭配的动词是“come /go”。例如：“go to a wild party”，或者“come to a
Christmas party”。
错误：Would you like to join our party on Friday?
正确：Would you like to come to our party on Friday night?
例句：
- This is the most boring week ever! I think I am rusting。
- Well, my friend Sarah is having a slumber party this Saturday evening.She
asked me to bring someone. Do you want to go?
- Really? You want to take me? I'd love to go to a slumber party.
- 这个星期实在太无聊了!我觉得我都生锈了。
- 嗯，我的朋友莎拉这个星期六晚上要办一个通宵派对。她让我带一个人去，你想去吗?
- 真的吗?你想带我去?我当然想去啊。
“我的舞也跳得不好”
当我们说不擅长做什么事情的时候，英语里面通常用“not good at something”，英语的思维甚至直接踊跃到：我不是一个好的舞者。
错误：I don't dance well.
正确：I am not a very good dancer.
例句：
- What do you say we go to the newly-opened club after work?
- I don't know. I suck at dancing.
- Come on! I am not a very good dancer either. Besides, it's really about
shaking off the stress.
- 下班后咱们去那家新开的夜总会玩吧?
- 不知道。我跳舞很烂的。
- 没事!我跳得也不怎么样。而且，主要是想放松一下心情。
“我想我不行”
错误：I think I can't.
正确：I don't think I can do this.
这一组在语法上称为否定前置，就是汉语里说的“我想我不会”，在英语里说“我不认为我会”。
例句：
- I've been working three different part-time jobs for a while and it's
beginning to take its toll on my health. I don't think I can do this any
longer.
- 我最近一直在做三份兼职，身体已经开始出现问题了。我不会再这么拼了。
“我没有经验”
错误：I have no experience.
正确：I don't know much about that.
例句：
- My friend told me that they have an opening in the marketing division.
But I really don't know much about marketing, so I am a little worried whether I
am up to this job or not.
- 我的朋友告诉我他们市场部有个空缺。但我对市场营销不是很了解，所以有些真担心自己能不能胜任。
“我的英语很糟糕”
错误：My English is poor.
正确：I am not 100% fluent, but at least I am improving.
似乎中国人最擅长的一句英文是“My English is poor”但是很少有美国人会说“My Chinese is
poor”无论他们的汉语是好是坏，他们都会说“I am still having a few problems, but I am getting
better.”
“明天我有事情要做”
错误：I have something to do tomorrow?
正确：I am tied up all day tomorrow.
“I have something to do”这也是中国式的说法，您可以说我很忙，脱不开身：“I'm tied up.”还有其他的说法“I
can't make it at that time. I’d love to, but I can't, I have to stay at home.
”
例句：
- Hey. This is Jake. I am calling to tell you I can’t go to the party
tomorrow. I am sorry but something came up. I am really all tied up tomorrow.
Anyway, call me when you get the message.
- 嘿。我是杰克。打电话想告诉你明天的派对我去不了了。很抱歉，不过临时出了些事。我明天一天都有事。不管怎么样，你听到这个留言时给我打个电话吧。 |
