        　　In southwest Paris, 4,000 people dressed in red and donned white beards to take part in a charityrace.
        　　Harry Bignon, Charity Race Organister, said, "We are running to help people who need heart surgery. It’s for those children of the third world who are suffering from heart defects and come to be operated on in France. We are also supporting an organisationcalled Fungana, which is helping the education of young people in Kenya."
        　　Children were also involved in a special race within the event to help their counterparts who are suffering from starvation, disease and poverty.
        　　The race is highly popular. Some participants have run three years in a row. It’s less like a competition than like a big party, they run not only for exercise, but also for fun, and the most important, for charity.
        　　Christmas lights in L.A.
        　　There won’t be a white Christmas in the forever-summer southern California. So the people of a Los Angeles neighborhood create their own sparkle by brightening their holiday lights every year.
        　　It has been a tradition for residents for 50 years, to celebrate Christmas by decking out their homes with elaboratelights and decorations.
        　　And it’s also a tradition for many in other parts of California to make a trip here during the festive period.
        　　Serena Santa Maria, Visitor, said, "It makes me feel nostalgic. I am the one that wanted to come to see this. It hasn’t really felt like Christmas this year. It just really brings the Christmas spirit."
        　　These holiday lights bring sparkle and plenty of smiles both to residents and to visitors. And in the spirit of Christmas, it’s a chance to share the joy with people all around.
