In this day and age, there has been a heated discussion about what will
happen when more and more students study online instead of attending school.
Currently more and more students are getting access to computers at a
younger age because they are affordable for most households nowadays. Students
will soon be presented with the opportunity to study from home. However, I
believe that attending a traditional school is greatly preferable to learning in
a virtual classroom.
To begin with, most our relationships with our teachers and classmates are
formed by interaction in the classroom. These relationships are solidified over
spending hours and hours in the same classroom. It will be a drawback if we
cannot work together with our best friends on group projects. Besides,
traditional schools also have the advantage of training students to face “the
real world”. If a student never has to work with others on a project, he/she
will never have a very good grasp as to what it means to work in a team
environment.
From my perspective, I think it would be much more beneficial for all
students to attend schools rather than study online at home. Only by attending
schools can students develop the necessary social skills needed to survive
fierce social competition.
