怒放的生命歌词英译
新东方的宣传片，让我初次听到《怒放的生命》。和《蓝莲花》一样，憧憬满怀。09财年的表彰大会，老俞号召我们齐唱《怒放的生命》作为闭幕曲。音乐振人心魄，我们在台上唱得荡气回肠。徐小平老师站我前排，神情投入，摇晃不止，几于癫狂。我深受鼓舞，不由得提高嗓门，声嘶力竭，直至咽炎发作，躲在人后，咳得一塌糊涂。“怒放的生命”，在英文里，有现成的对应，即a full bloom。可我觉得“怒放”的激昂尚未体现。用bursting bloom，似乎贴近原意，所以我翻成“life in busting bloom”。
歌里还有一个主题：超越平凡的生活，可以译成“gonging beyond the mediocre”或“accept no mediocre life”。《22条军规》的作者，美国作家Joseph Heller，说过一句关于平庸的话，颇有意味：“some men are born mediocre men; some men achieve mediocrity; and some men had mediocrity thrust upon them”。
当然，这不是Joseph Heller的原创，他妙笔生花，化解了莎士比亚的一句话，关于“伟大”，出自twelfth night：“some men are born great men; some men achieve greatness; and some men had greatness thrust upon them”。大意是，有的人生来富贵，有的人是挣来的富贵，有的人是送上门的富贵。
如果把“富贵”改成“平庸”，Joseph Heller的那句话不好翻译，只能读者自己体味了。我近来读《22条军规》，领略其辛辣刻薄，兴味盎然，里面文学技法让我眼花缭乱，倒叙，意识流什么的，在我目前浮躁奔忙的生活状态下，无从清心尽享，便中途搁置了。
怒放生命，超越平凡。在庸庸碌碌的人群里，遗世独立，傲然绽放。在我所学的英国文学里，也有一句，一反如常的雅致，跳跃着激情。这是Tomas Moore的夏日玫瑰，百花开尽，我自怒放。
’Tis last rose of summer left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions are faded and gone.
