Assad's ouster not precondition for dialogue: Russian FMSyrian President Bashar al-Assad's ouster is no precondition tosolve his country's crisis, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrovsaid Sunday.
The idea that Assad must exit first was a precondition, "which isnot mentioned in the Geneva Communique and cannot befulfilled," Lavrov said after talks with his Ukrainian counterpart, Leonid Kozhara.
His comments came two days after meeting in Geneva with Lakhdar Brahimi, the UN-Arab Leaguepeace envoy on Syria, and U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns.
Assad last week proposed a plan to resolve the crisis which includes a national reconciliationconference, the formation of a new government and an amnesty.
The Syrian opposition has rejected the peace initiative, calling it "empty rhetoric."
Lavrov described Assad's initiatives as not "far-reaching," and appealed for Syrian opposition'sideas as to "how to enter a dialogue," the RIA Novosti news agency reported.
Syria has been engulfed in a bloody civil war between opposition forces and government troopssince March 2011. According to UN estimates, over 60,000 people have since been killed.

俄新社援引拉夫罗夫的话报道：“阿萨德总统已发布倡议，邀请所有反对派对话。也许，这些倡议不够广泛，某些人或许认为那不够认真，但这是倡议。”
巴沙尔上周提出一项化解危机方案，包括举行全国对话、组建新政府和大赦，却遭反对派拒绝。１１日，俄、美官员和卜拉希米在瑞士日内瓦会商，没有就叙利亚危机政治解决方案取得实质进展。
拉夫罗夫呼吁叙利亚反对派提出己方想法，“如果我处在反对派立场，我将就如何建立对话提出自己的意见”。
