导读:Real estate mogul Donald Trump, the 12th candidate to enter the race forthe Republican presidential nomination, told a crowd at his campaign launch that
the American dream is dead – but that if elected, he’ll bring it back 'bigger
and better and stronger than ever before, and we will make America great
again.’

“Defiant Donald Trump dominates US Republican TV debate” a BBC news article
titled so. “The tycoon's refusal to rule out a third-party run drew boos from
the audience on Thursday night.
And he stood by offensive comments he has made in the past about
women.”
The 10 candidates in Cleveland, selected by Fox News on the basis of recent
national polls, provided a frank and bruising exchange of views.
How did Donald Trump perform in this debate? His best moment is when asked
about immigration, he boasted that he's singlehandedly made it an issue in the
race, which is largely true. Then he bashed reporters and "stupid politicians"
for good measure.
His biggest flop is when asked to defend his past support of a single-payer
style health insurance programme, similar to the UK's government-run NHS. He
began his remarks by saying it works "incredibly well" in places like Canada and
Scotland, and went downhill from there.
He never leaves the spotlight
A fleeting glimpse of the top of his head was enough to know "The Donald"
was in the building.
That famous coif, a thinning tuft of silver-blond hair, sailed above a sea
of media and campaign supporters as he walked through Trump Tower in New York on
July 16 to announce he was vying for the U.S. presidency.
The 68-year-old billionaire business magnate and reality TV star declared
his candidacy, telling an elated audience, "I will be the greatest jobs
president that God ever created.” And then he said that he has a better chance
than anybody of beating Hillary Clinton, the favourite to win the Democratic
nomination for the 2016 U.S. presidency.
Asked about Trump's chances of assuming the Oval Office, a person from the
audience of the speech commented, ”Forget about it! It's all flair. He's just a
guy that likes the big show. He loves the spotlight.”
Who is Donald Trump
Donald John Trump (born June 14, 1946) is an American real estate magnate,
television personality, and author.
Trump's branding efforts, business career, outspoken manner, media
appearances, as well as his books, have made him an American celebrity. He
hosted The Apprentice, a U.S. television program on NBC which made him a popular
TV personality. Forbes claimed that Donald Trump had $4 billion net worth
whereas himself declared to be $8.74 billion instead.
In his announcement speech, Trump said he would spend his own money in the
campaign and that his experience building his personal fortune would translate
into job creation as president. He said bluntly, "I’m really rich.”
His actions after coming up to the stage
Trump boldly started the conversation about illegal immigrants, something
that no other “politically correct” politicians dare to do so. He said it with
one line particularly eliciting wide eyes from the press "When Mexico sends its
people, they're not sending their best... They're sending people who have a lot
of problems," Trump said. "They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime,
they're rapists. Some, I assume, are good people.” That triggered heated
discussion and attacks in or out of the arena.
His platform includes plans to "build a great wall on our southern border
and have Mexico pay for that wall," repeal Obamacare, stop China from "stealing"
American jobs and "be tougher on ISIS.”
Expectation: not a power broker
As the host of NBC's The Apprentice, Trump is certainly not camera-shy, but
he suffers from being viewed more as a rabble-rouser than a political power
broker. Republican strategists think Trump scores points for "name
identification," but he lacks something any prospective leader of the free world
ought to have — serious political credibility.
"He's one more piece on that presidential primary chessboard, and my guess
is most of the candidates see him as a pawn,” a political commentator said. "He
can inflict some damage, but he's unlikely to force a checkmate.”
"He's going to be in the debates based largely on name ID, so right there
he has a seat at the table. And he's a wild card," said Stone, who advised on
presidential campaigns for Nixon, Reagan and George H.W. Bush. "They're going to
find it extremely difficult to ignore him because he's going to be extremely
provocative, he's not politically correct and he will tell the American people a
lot of things they may not want to hear.”
The Poll results right after the debate
Billionaire Donald Trump is the winner of the Drudge Report Poll taken
following the first Republican presidential debate.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz came in second place in the online poll of more than
190,000 Drudge Report visitors。

Donald Trump may also face some backlashes after his immature attack on
twitter on Megan Kelly who threw a harsh question at him about his offensive
comments on women calling them “pigs, slobs, fat” in the debate. He retweeted a
post calling Kelly a “bimbo.” The post was later deleted. “She’s not very tough
and not very sharp,” Trump said during a phone interview on CNN. “I don’t
respect her as a journalist.” But the question is: why Trump did not go after
any male journalists who shot him same difficult questions? He clearly has some
issues with women and we are waiting to see if this is so bad that it will cost
him half of the voters in the end.
