operating system, meaning neither new featuresnor free help will be given to
Windows 7 users.
微软于周三停止对Windows 7操作系统提供“主流支持”，这也就意味着微软将不再为其添加新特性，也意味着不再为Windows
7用户提供免费辅助。
“主流支持”可以用mainstream support表示，所谓主流支持包括，免费的事件支持、保证期索赔、非安全性更新(non-security
updates)，以及设计改变和功能要求(add newfeatures or
functionality)。停止主流服务意味着微软不会再为Win7推出更新服务包(ServicePack)。
微软自2002年开始引入生命周期策略(lifecycle
policy)，根据此策略，微软桌面操作系统通常会获得至少10年的技术支持，一般五年是主流支持服务，五年是扩展支持(extendedsupport)服务。
微软对Win7的扩展服务持续到2020年，扩展支持包括修复安全漏洞(patch
securityvulnerabilities)，在这期间，安全补丁(security patch)仍免费，技术更新转为付费。
