北京市市长：坚决控制人口过快增长(双语）
Curbing the explosive growth of its population will be a top priority for the Beijing municipal government, Mayor of the Chinese capital Wang Anshun has said."To resolutely control the population's excessive growth is the key to solving multiple problems, such as traffic and environmental problems," said Wang on Sunday at a session of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Beijing committee.
Beijing will give full play to the restructuring of industries and upgrading of service industries to slow down population growth, he added.
Since 2000, Beijing's permanent population has increased by an average of nearly 600,000 annually to reach 20.69 million at the end of 2012, far exceeding the previously planned target of keeping the population at 18 million by 2020.
The population of Beijing is about 2.6 times that of London and 2.5 times that of New York. The metropolis faces traffic jams, strained resources supply, and environmental pollution.
Beijing's population growth has seen a downward trend since 2011.Permanent residents in Beijing increased by 507,000 in the one-year period since the end of 2011.

王安顺表示，要坚持“以业控人”，充分发挥产业调控的基础性作用，修订产业准入目录、人才准入政策，对重大项目、重大政策、重大规划，实施人口评估和交通评价、水资源评价，推进服务业转型升级、提高质量。同时，将坚持做实做细“以房管人”“以证管人”，制定房屋租赁条例，推广组织化管理模式，实施居住证制度，强化流动人口基础登记办证工作，做到实有人口服务管理全覆盖。
据统计，近年来北京市常住人口以年均６０万人左右的速度增长，２０１２年北京市常住人口达２０６９万人，远远超出城市总体规划的调控目标，导致交通、水资源等资源环境矛盾突出。
