The doors of the Forbidden City in Beijing will open to the first family ofthe US on Wednesday when President Donald Trump visits Beijing, according to the
US ambassador to China.
据美国驻华大使介绍，周三，当美国总统唐纳德.特朗普访问北京时，故宫的大门将向美国第一家庭开放。
"The Forbidden City in the first night will include the first families of
China and the US, and I believe that will be very personal and special
occasion," Branstad told reporters on Monday.

The Forbidden City has a long history, it’s a very historical and
significant place in China. People want to learn more about the history of
China, and the history found in the Forbidden City, Branstad explained when
asked why the Forbidden City was chosen.

The Forbidden City is right here in Beijing and it’s a place where leaders

Trump is set to visit China from Wednesday to Friday.

The Forbidden City will be closed on Wednesday for an "important event," a
notice on its website says.
故宫博物院在其官网上发布通知：由于有“重大事件”，将于星期三闭馆一天。
The Forbidden City was crowded as usual on Tuesday, and more police have
been spotted around the area. Many visitors told the Global Times that they
understand why the area would be closed for a day because it reflects China’s
courtesy and respect for the US president.
周二，故宫仍如往常一样游人如织，只是比平时的警察更多了。许多游客在接受《环球时报》采访时表示，他们理解故宫为何要闭馆一天，这反映了中国对美国总统的礼貌和尊重。
"China is a country of rites and courtesy and the people understand [the
closure]. We also hope that China and the US will maintain their friendship and
avoid confrontations, which are bad for both," an elder visitor surnamed Wang
from North China’s Shanxi Province told the Global Times.
来自中国北部山西省的一位姓王的老人接受《环球时报》采访时说，
“中国是一个礼仪之邦，人们对此(闭馆)都能理解。我们也希望中美两国能保持友好，避免冲突，那对双方都是不利的。”
"This is my second time to visit China, and I think the Forbidden City is a
great symbol of Chinese culture. I think cultural and language barriers won’t be
an obstacle between China and the US. On the contrary, the two countries should
cooperate and learn from each other more, especially under such a global
atmosphere," Caroline, a US tourist, told the Global Times.
一位美国游客卡罗琳告诉《环球时报》：“这是我第二次来中国。我认为故宫是中国文化的一个重要的象征。我认为文化和语言差异不会是中美双方交往的障碍。相反，两国应当相互合作，相互学习，特别是在当今全球化的环境下。”
"Trump’s visit to the Forbidden City will be different from normal visits,
with special arrangements to be made to help Trump understand more about China,"
Ni Feng, deputy director of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences’ Institute of
American Studies, told the Global Times.
中国社会科学院美国研究所副所长倪峰在接受《环球时报》采访时表示：“特朗普访问故宫与其他的访问不同，这种特别安排将帮助特朗普更多地了解中国。”
Trump’s trip to Beijing will make him the first foreign head of state to
visit China after the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of
China.
特朗普本次访华，将使他成为中共十九大之后首位访问中国的外国元首。
Vice Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang said Trump and his family will be
treated to a "state visit-plus" experience.
中国外交部副部长郑泽光表示，将以“国事访问+”的超规格欢迎特朗普及第一家庭。
"There will be significant interactions between the two leaders. The First
Lady and Madame Peng will be together and visit
schools," Branstad said.
布兰斯塔德说，“两国领导人之间将会有重大互动。第一夫人梅拉尼娅.特朗普和彭丽媛将一起参观学校。”
