An American girl born in China helps promote traditional ethnic minority
culture during her execution of one-week rotating duty as a "mayor" in a tourist
town in Southwest China’s Guizhou province.
一名在中国出生的美籍女孩在中国贵州省西南部的小镇担任一周“镇长”，帮助中国传播少数民族传统文化。
Accompanied by a melodious song played on the lusheng, a traditional
Chinese wind instrument, American JongMay dances gracefully with other members
of the Miao people, a national minority in China.
伴着芦笙吹奏的悠扬乐曲，美国女孩永梅和苗族(中国的一个少数名族)人民一起欢快的跳着舞。
The dance, called Jinji Dance, is a Chinese traditional folk dance
originating from Danzhai county in Guizhou, an autonomous region where the
ethnic Miao and Dong people live.
这种舞蹈叫做“锦鸡舞”，是一种中国民间传统舞蹈，发源于贵州省丹寨县，这里是少数民族苗族和侗族聚居地。
After the performance, the audience clapped heartily and members asked, one
after another, "Mayor, can I take a photo with you?"
表演结束后，观众热烈鼓掌，并争先恐后地要跟永梅合影：“镇长，我能跟你合张影吗?”
JongMay, who can speaks fluent Mandarin, replied in Chinese,
"Certainly!"
永梅用流利的汉语回答：“当然可以啊!”
JongMay, 23, was appointed the 16th "mayor" of Wanda town in Danzhai county
after winning a worldwide campaign to recruit on-duty "mayors" for the small
town.
永梅今年23岁，在一次世界范围内选拔轮值“镇长”的比赛中胜出，被委任为丹寨县万达小镇第16届“镇长”。
Starting from June, each "mayor" should serve for a one-week term to spread
local culture and support the town’s development.
从今年6月起，每一任“镇长”都将轮值一周，传播当地文化，并为本地发展做出贡献。
