英语幽默小故事：Talking parrot
One day a man went to an auction. While there, he bid on a parrot. He really wanted this bird, so he got caught up in the bidding. He kept on bidding, but kept getting outbid, so he bid higher and higher and higher.
一天一个人去参加拍卖。他相中了一只鹦鹉，他真的很想要这只鸟儿，于是他在竞价中紧紧跟着。他一直出价，出得比别人都高，最终，价格一路水涨船高。
Finally, after he bid way more than he intended, he won the bid - the parrot was his at last!
在出到比预想要高得多得的价格后，他赢了这次竞价，鹦鹉终于是他的了！
As he was paying for the parrot, he said to the Auctioneer, "I sure hope this parrot can talk. I would hate to have paid this much for it, only to find out that he can't talk!"
他去付钱时对拍卖人说，“我希望这只鹦鹉一定要会说话。如果出了这么高的价，它还不能说话的话，我肯定会很难过的。”
"Don't worry." said the Auctioneer, "He can talk. Who do you think kept bidding against you?"
“不要担心。”拍卖人说，“它可以说话的。你以为时谁在竞价时一直跟你对着干？”
