With Valentine’s Day a day away, last-minute romeos in Sichuan Province are
getting stuck with the thorny issue of soaring rose prices.
明天就是情人节了，但是四川的“罗密欧”们却遇到了玫瑰价格疯涨这一难题。
In particular, South American roses, which are selling for 2,000 yuan
($291) a dozen, Xinhua reported Sunday.
据新华社周日报道，其中涨价最厉害的是南美玫瑰，售价为2000元人民币(约合291美元)十二支。
"I didn’t order many Ecuador rose bouquets because I thought that no one
would buy them," said a florist surnamed Li at Chengdu’s Sanshengxiang Flower
Market. "But I already sold out my stock."
成都三圣乡花卉市场一名花店老板李先生表示称：“我没有预定多少厄瓜多尔玫瑰花，因为我觉得没人会买这些花。但是我的库存已经卖完了。”
"Wholesale price for these roses is 1,500 yuan a bundle," said another
florist.
另一位花店老板说道：“这些玫瑰花的批发价格是1500元一束。”
"But retail prices may reach up to 2,000 yuan."
“但是零售价可以达到2000元。”
Florists explain the attraction for Ecuador-grown roses lies in their
fuller, redder petals and that they are more robust than domestically-grown
roses.
据花店老板解释称，人们之所以热衷厄瓜多尔玫瑰花，是因为这种玫瑰花比国产玫瑰开得更饱满、花瓣更鲜艳、花朵更大更坚韧一些。
Valentine’s Day flower sales in Chengdu are expected to grow 20 percent
compared to last year, according to the Sichuan Florists Association.
据四川花卉协会表示称，今年成都情人节花卉销售额预计将比去年增长20%。
