2017年安徽停止英语等级考试 系全国首例
East China’s Anhui province will become the first province in China to dropthe national Public English Test System (PETS), starting next year, reports

据安徽新闻网报道，安徽将在明年正式取消全国英语等级考试，这也是国内第一个停止全国英语等级考试的省份。
PETS is a five-level system for people with various educational backgrounds
working in a wide range of industries in different positions.
PETS(全国英语等级考试)共有5个等级，应试者不分年龄、学历、工作单位等背景，均可参加该考试。
It is speculated that Anhui will become one of the pilots to apply a new
national English proficiency testing and rating system next year.
据传安徽将会成为明年首批采取全新国家英语水平测试和评级系统的省份。
The new system, which assesses English proficiency from a low to high level
with nine grades, will offer a consistent standard for English teaching and
learning in China and match mature English teaching and evaluation systems
around the world.
新制定的中国英语能力等级量表将从低到高划分为九个等级，将为中国英语教学和学习提供统一标准，同时还将与世界各地较为成熟的英语教学体系和评价系统进行对接。
Each grade will have its own requirements for language skills, including
listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating, China Daily reports.
据《中国日报》报道，该系统每个级别在包括听、说、读、写、译五方面在内的语言技巧方面都会有不同要求。
Lin Huiqing, China’s vice-minister of education, announced last month that
the new rating system will be officially released next year, and a detailed plan
about the national English tests will be carried out step by step before
2020.
中国教育部副部长林慧青则在上个月宣布将会在明年发布新的测评等级，关于全国英语等级考试的更详细的计划将会在2020年之前逐步实施。
This accords with 2014 government guidelines to establish a better
assessment system on foreign language proficiency.
这也与2014年政府关于建立一个更好的外语能力评估体系的政策方针相辅相成。
Besides PETS, major English testing systems currently in China include
College English Test CET 4 and CET 6, Test for English Majors, Business English
Certificate exam as well as English exam for job promotion.
除了PETS之外，目前国内的英语考试还包括大学英语四级和英语六级、英语专业等级考试、商务英语证书考试以及职务晋升英语考试等。
However, there’s no integrated national standard to assess the performance
of the 300 million English learners in China.
然而，国内并没有一套整体标准来对近三亿英语学习者的英语水平进行有效评估。
It is expected that more provinces will abandon the current English testing
systems soon.
人们则希望能够有更多省份可以在未来短时间内抛弃现有的英语考试体系。
