食品浪费问题大(有声)

So food waste: from the vegetables left rotting by the side of the road to the discarded packet - yes, that packet at the back of your fridge. It is a global issue. Get this: some estimates suggest that 1.3 billion tons of food get thrown away every year, 1/3 of all the food we produce. That would be enough to feed the 800 million most hungry people in the world many times over, only how to do it. Camelia Bucoratu is a policy consultant with the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization. She says the problem in the developing world is technological, things like better refrigeration and transport. But in developed countries, it's about getting retailers simply to stop throwing away so much food.
If you have food that is available for retailers worldwide, that food that is now lost or wasted could be in principle all recovered for human consumption. This happens also for agricultural products. So going actually into the fields of the producers and have the produce that is still left in the fields recovered for human consumptions.
So hundreds of millions of tons could be saved every year very easily if we simply focus on the problem better.
