But first the votes have been counted in Burundi's presidential election, but it looks as if the result is a foregone conclusion because the main opposition candidates have boycotted the poll. So it seems the incumbent president Pierre Nkurunziza will be declared the winner. The United States has already described the election as lacking any credibility. Neither the African Union nor the European Union would send observers. The view being that the poll would not be free and fair. Burundi is a tiny landlocked country, nestled in the Great Lakes area of East Africa. But with its history of ethnic violence and instability, there are concerns that tensions could grow into something more problematic for the entire region. We'll learn more on that in a moment. But first many who would have voted for the opposition, had they been able to, protested on the streets in the capital Bujumbura earlier.
