For anyone who is fond of surfing on Internet, it could be almost impossible for he/she not to notice the buzz word – ‘Sha Ma Te’, which means ‘smart’ in English. Actually, the word has no relation with smart at all. According to Baidu, it is acknowledged as a semi-culture in China, which widely exists in the badly educated youngsters with exaggerated dressing-up.
This world, as far as I am concerned, is an absolutely offensive word to a particular social group. Our mainstream society shows contempt for the ‘Sha Ma Te’ group because of their bad tastes and low skills. The privliage of using of it reveals a dangerous sign of splitting society. Many other similar words like ‘Diao Si’ and ‘Tu Hao’ all reflect this dangerous change in people’s mind. Our society is being divided into different groups and the boundaries between them are becoming clearer. In other words, due to the fixability of social stratum, the chances of changing one’s social states are really fading into distance. And that is the thing our leaders should try their best to avoid.
        范例2:
Social labelling is a common phenomenon. It ties in closely with stereotyping and profiling. By labelling a group, a general impression of people belonging to that group is created. Even in a school, there are groups like the jocks, the geeks, the nerds, the teachers' pets, the whiz, the punks, etc. This in itself is neither good nor bad. The name is meant to give an overall impression. Of course not every person in the group behaves in a certain way. The problem arises when the name given implies inferiority. When such a name becomes a stigma, it is truly hurtful to the people being labelled.
