The Cascades（瀑布合唱团）来自加州圣地亚哥，是由擅长作曲以及吉他的主唱约翰甘莫 （John Gummoe）领军的，他在1950年代末期结识了另外四位乐手，由于彼此十分投缘，决定共同组团。他们的唱片被认为「太美国」而遭到了消费者的冷落，尽管他们继续努力，却依然改变不了过气的命运，团员们先后打了退堂鼓，甚至连负责创作大部分歌曲的约翰甘莫也宣告退出。「Rhythm of the Rain」是一首真正畅销的歌曲，也是流行音乐史上最令人难忘的经典之一
