野人花园是一个二人组合， 乐队由主唱Darren和吉他手兼键盘手Daniel组成。 两个来自澳大利亚布里斯班的年轻人在1993年时走到了一起，起初Daniel原来所在的乐队正缺少一名主唱，于是他在附近的酒馆里张贴了一张招聘广告，这张广告吸引来了Darren。Darren加入了Daniel的乐队， 开始演唱别人的歌曲，在相处中这两个人越来越投机，尤其是在音乐上他们总能找到共同的感受，这促使他们创作了第一首他们自己的歌曲：“A Thousand Word”，这首歌曲的成功给他们带来了强烈的鼓舞和激情， 终于他们离开了原来的乐队组成了自己的乐队，并取名“野人花园”。
截至1998年初为止，Savage Garden的首张同名专辑便已创下许多历史性的辉煌纪录：在澳洲，此辑首周入榜即获冠军，并在冠军宝座上连续停留长达16周之久；同时，更以同时获得单曲榜冠军的《Truly Madly Deeply》创下澳洲音乐史上首度专辑与单曲同时荣获排行冠军的乐团纪录！这张专辑在澳洲的销售，至1998年3月底止即已拥有60万张的9白金销售认证佳绩(至2005年则超过84万张获得12张白金认证)，亦创下澳洲音乐史上单张专辑销售成绩最好的乐团纪录。
虽然说天下无不散的宴席，由Darren与Daniel两人所共创的Savage Garden乐团生涯，在创造了逾二千万张的销售数字后，突然于2001年10月暂时划下了休止符，但其所创造出的音乐作品，却仿佛早已拥有其各自独立的生命力般，不断地传唱下去、深植在更多乐迷的心中，使得其作品的销售量依然不断且稳定地累积，至2005年止，亦已突破2千3百万张了，而其《Truly Madly Deeply》以及《I Knew I Loved You 》两首抒情经典，亦长期地在Billboard当代成人抒情榜史上，分别保有其于榜首停留时间最长的排行冠亚军纪录。
