The word "strike" has many different meanings and uses. It's a very common word in English.Strike这个单词有很多不同的含义和用法，这个单词在英语里很常见。
In the first set of examples, "strike" is a verb which means to hit something or someone:在第一组例句中，strike作为动词，意为“击打某物或某人”：
A pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV.一个行人被一辆越野车撞到然后死亡。
A man was struck by lightning while playing golf.一个男人在玩高尔夫的时候被闪电击中了。
Sarah said that if her husband ever strikes her she'll leave him.萨拉说如果他的丈夫打她，她就离开他。
Be careful when you strike a match.你划火柴的时候要小心。
As a verb "strike" can also mean that a person has a thought or a sudden inspiration:Strike作动词也可以意为“一个人有个想法或者突然有灵感”：
You strike me as being a very ambitious person.我觉得你是一个野心勃勃的人。
She strikes the other women in the office as being a little flirtatious around men.办公室里的其他女人觉得她是绕着男人转的轻浮女子。
That just struck me as a bad idea.我突然间想到一个坏主意。
The word "striking" is an adjective. It means beautiful or impressive:Striking作为形容词，意为“漂亮的或者引人瞩目的”：
He has a striking physique.他身材很棒。
She bears a striking resemblance to Marilyn Monroe.她长得很漂亮，就像玛丽莲·梦露。
As a noun, the word "strike" represents many different things:Strike作为名词，则代表很多不同的事物：
A lightning strike hit the top of the tree.一道闪电击中了树顶。
The workers went on strike.工人们举行了罢工。
A pitcher tries to throw strikes in the game of baseball.一位投手尝试在棒球比赛中投个好球。
There are a few important expressions that use the word "strike."还有一些关于strike的重要表达：
That's a strike against you.这对你很不利。
He struck gold.他挖到宝了。
They struck a deal.他们达成了共识。
