Serena throw's Jenny an small birthday
party for her sweet sixteenth, but things get out of control when Poppy
Lifton turns the birthday into a huge social event. Vanessa in a moment
of desesperation agrees to help Chuck with a scheme
having to do with Blair and Nate. Rufus tries to figure out how to
cover Dan's Yale tuition, when he learns that Dan will not
receive financial aid.

touch-and-go: Dangerous and uncertain in nature or outcome; precarious; delicate.
危险的，不确定的，现在还说不准。Dan这句话就是针对Rufus那句“总算到16岁了”来说的，因为因为当时离Jenny 16岁生日还差一天。

something, or do something badly, 搞砸，做坏事

throw a party: 办聚会用throw, 比较随便的一个讲法。

me: 抱歉我要离开了，这句话通常用在你和一群人正在聊天或者聚会的时候，你中途有事要离开，就可以说这句话。

in a rut: in a type of boring
habitual behavior, 一成不变。rut是车辙，就是轮胎滚过的痕迹。这个词组来源于马车的轮子在泥路上留下车辙，后来的车子行驶就容易多了，只要沿着这条车辙继续前进就可以了，由此必须那些一成不变的习惯或者行为。
feud with: 长期斗争
frenemy:
亦敌亦友，是friend和enemy的合成词。Someone who is both friend and enemy, a relationship that is both
mutually beneficial or dependent while being competitive, fraught with risk and
mistrust.
