世博与文化：最古老的劳动“号子”
8月12日，世博会迎来重庆馆活动周。世博园将响起历史悠久的“川江号子”。川江号子是川江船工们为统一动作和节奏，由号工领唱，众船工帮腔、合唱的一种一领众和式的民间歌唱形式。这种劳动号子，应该也是很古老的一种民歌形式了吧。
A work song is a piece of music closely connected to a specific form of work, either sung while conducting a task (often to coordinate timing).
“号子”指一种与某样工作紧密相关的小调，经常是在指挥工作进行的时候唱的，有时候唱号子是为了协调工作节奏。
“号子”的英语表达很简单，work song，是民歌folk song的一种。提及有节奏的“劳动号子”，还会想起军人们在跑步、训练时喊的那种同样有节奏的调子，在英语中这个被称为military cadence：
In the armed services, a military cadence or cadence call is a traditional call-and-response work song sung by military personnel while running or marching.
cadence意为“抑扬顿挫、韵律”：the charming cadence of the Chinese language，中文的抑扬顿挫。形容词形式是cadent，也可以用cadenced来表示：
His recitation was cadenced and full of passion.
他的朗诵抑扬顿挫，富有激情。
