Robin: Ithink I like your “Olive Theory.”
Ted: I think I like your new French horn.
Robin: I think I like your nose.
Ted: I think I’m in love with you.
Ted : So Orlando, you going to hit Disney World?
        Robin: You love me?
Ted: OhGod, I, I, I can’t believe I said that. Why did I say that? Who says that? I should just go.

Robin: Hold on, wait a minute. (I) promised you these.
Ted: Olives, thanks. I love you. What is wrong with me?
他们会对一个人感兴趣(be interested in sb.)或者暗恋一个人( have a crush on sb.),也会约某人出来约会(ask sb. out / ask sb on a date), 但约会(go on a date)不一定是男女朋友。美国适婚青年也会遇被安排相亲(set on a blind date)的情况,不过有时候不是放别人鸽子就是被别人放鸽子(get stood up)。 We didn't click. / We didn't hit off. 当然有时候你也会听到: ” I’ll call you.”
        American Wedding Traditions and Customs

        在结婚(getting married)之前,谈恋爱(dating)一定是一个必不可少的环节,除了少数闪婚(flash marriage)的人,大多数还是要谈一段时间的(dating for a while. ) 当你找到一个和你特别相配的(compatible)的人,一定想一辈子都和TA在一起(want to spend the rest of your life with him/her)。 在结婚之前,男士还会单膝跪地(to get down on one knee)对心爱的姑娘求婚(propose)。 决定结婚后,一些亲朋好友一定会问‘你们日子定了吗?’(Have you set a date? )。 结婚戒指(wedding band)和订婚时的有所不同,通常是没有钻的,被称为普通的指环(simple/plain band)在办婚宴/喜酒(wedding reception)当天,新娘(the bride和新郎(the groom)会在伴娘(the maid of honor)、女傧相(bridesmaid)、伴郎(best man)、伴郎(the groomsman)敬酒(make a toast)以及切结婚蛋糕(wedding cake)。

The rhyme dates back to the time of Queen Victoria and is often quoted "Something old, something new, something borrowed something blue, and a silver sixpence in her shoe."
Something old:Represents continuity with the bride's family and the past, usually a ring or a piece of jewelry that has been passed down through the family from generation to generation.
Something new:The wearing of something new shows the brideis looking to the future of her marriage. This could be the wedding dress or the lingerie worn under the dress.
Something borrowed: a token borrowed from a happily married friend or relative in the hope that some of their happiness and good luck will be transferred to the new couple. A piece of jewelry is usually borrowed for the big day.
Something blue: The color blue is believed to come from the Virgin Mary, who is often portrayed in a blue robe, blue is a symbol of purity, most often the something blue is the garter the bride wears.
A silver sixpence in her shoe:A Scottish tradition that actually started with the bridegroom putting a sixpence in his shoe torepresent financial security and future wealth. The custom these days though is for the bride to have the sixpence in her shoe.

        Wedding vows
        Version 1
I, (Bride/Groom), take you (Groom/Bride),to be my (wife/husband), to have and to hold from this day forward, for betteror for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish; from this day forward until death do us part.
        Version 2

I promise to love you unconditionally, to support you in your goals, to honor and respect you, to laugh with you and cry with you, and to cherish you for as long as we both shall live.
