A: She never stands up to her husband. She is gutless!
B: Have you seen him get angry? He’s scary. I would be chicken, too!
A: 她从不敢违抗丈夫。真是没胆量！
B: 你没见过他发脾气吗？很吓人的。我也会害怕的。

A: John wants me to visit him in Beijing, but I don’t have any vacation time left.
B: Don’t be such a wet rag. Just tell your boss you’re going and that’s the end of it.
A: John希望我去北京看他，可是我的假都休完了。
B: 别这么瞻前顾后的，直接跟老板说你要去不就得了。
【语言点精讲】
stand up to sb.: 勇敢地和某人对抗。
gutless: 形容某人胆小，没有勇气，或在做某事时没有坚定的意志。
scary: 吓人的。
chicken: 口语中常用来形容某人胆小怕事，不敢做某事，就像小鸡见了人就要跑开一样。
wet rag: 原意是指破布。用来形容某人在面对某事的时候，没有一个坚定的立场，表现得太软弱。
