A: So why didn’t you hire that guy you interviewed yesterday? He seemed perfect.
B: Yeah, too perfect. Most of what he said was a line of baloney. I checked up with former employers.
A: Oh, I see. So it’s no big deal, I guess. We have many other applicants.
B: That’s right, he was just a drop in the ocean.
A: 你为什么没雇昨天你面试的那个人？他看上去挺完美的。
B: 是，太过完美了。他说的都是一派胡言，我向他以前的雇主核实过了。
A: 哦，是这样。没什么大不了的，我们还有许多其他的人选。
B: 对，他只不过是普通得不能再普通的人。
【语言点精讲】
baloney: 原指一种廉价午餐中使用的香肠，这种香肠是使用边角碎料的肉制成的。在口语中，这个词常用来形容某事太垃圾，不值得相信，或某人不诚实。
check up with: 同……核实；查证。
no big deal: 某事不重要，没什么大不了的。
applicant: 申请人。
a drop in the ocean: 沧海一粟；九牛一毛。
