Britain loves detective fiction. For more than 100 years we've been among the world's biggest consumers and producers of the crime novel. Now increasingly these novels feature sleuths who pretty much double as literary guides to food cultures where entire pages can resemble those of a cook book and where fiendish plots are woven around dishes, ingredients and the dinner table. And this wave of crime mixed with cooking got me thinking.
英国是个热爱侦探小说的国度。一百多年来，我们对侦探小说的消费量和生产量都居于世界前列。现在越来越多的侦探小说里会出现吃货型探长，“兼职”做美食文化活字典。小说里整页整页的描写堪比美食专著，而那些棘手的案情就交织在这些菜肴里、食材中、餐桌上。这股美食犯罪小说的热浪让我陷入了思考。
