The students are getting a glimpse of species unique to this island group like the island fox. The students come from the Environmental Charter High School in suburban Los Angeles. They are taking part in a national program called LEAF, which stands for Leaders in Environmental Action for the Future. It is run by the Nature Conservancy which owns most of the island.这些学生也将一睹海峡群岛独有物种的风采，比如说岛狐。这7名学生来自洛杉矶郊区的环境特许高中。她们参加了一个名叫LEAF的国家级项目，意为“Leaders in Environmental Action for the Future（未来环保行动的领导者）”。自然保护协会占有圣克鲁斯岛的大部分土地，负责该项目的运营。
