Possessive noun are sometimes a challenge for beginners. There are little bit different from the Chinese way of using them. For example, 'my brother' in Chinese was usually say '我哥哥'was seldom Say '我的哥哥'. And then we translate Chinese into English. '我哥哥' could be translated into 'I brother', which is of course not correct. So try to express these ideas and try to find equivalent for each word or idea.
