在之前的【跟外教学地道英语】和外国朋友聊啥不尴尬？中，Alison老师告诉我们，西方人喜欢谈论电影、餐厅、公众事件、假期和电视节目之类的话题。但是如果我们想更进一步了解一个人的话，又该怎么做呢？嘿嘿，这个时候asking about hobbies and interests is a great place to start（问问他/她的兴趣爱好将是一个灰常好的开场哦）！

西方人从小就受到鼓励，去发现自己的兴趣爱好，让自己变得与众不同。所谓的兴趣爱好里包括了artistic skills like painting, singing, playing an instrument, or writing poetry，另外还包括sports like basketball, football, running or snow skiing。你可以去学习如何组装汽车、电脑，也可以学习如何养护园林、宠物。其中旅游是很多人都有的爱好呢~~
很多人会花大量时间沉浸于爱好中，提高自己这方面的水平，所以他们通常会去寻找志同道合的朋友。大学啊工作单位等等也很重视学生或者员工的兴趣爱好，因为它们相信，hobbies and interests give people identity and personality（兴趣爱好赋予了一个人特色和个性）。
正因为兴趣爱好于西方人来说如此重要，所以这可是绝佳的聊天话题！如果你尝试问问西方朋友他们有啥兴趣爱好，那么你肯定会从他们身上了解到有趣的东东~~

1、长E元音给很多同学造成了麻烦，其实最重要的一点就是：要把长E音念得足够长。另外发这个元音时要做微笑状哦~~来念念以下单词："Green" "Free" "Need" "Sleep" "Dream" "Complete"。
2、此外，大家可以练习一下将单词末尾的辅音念得更重些，尤其是当这些辅音出现在短语或句子中时。来练习这句句子："I need to feed the greedy sheep to keep him glad and fat."

【Hobbies and Interests】
In another program, we talked about how Westerners like to talk about experiences like films, restaurants, public events, vacations and TV shows. But if you want to get to know a person better, asking about hobbies and interests is a great place to start.
From a young age, children are encouraged to find hobbies and interests that will make them feel special and unique. This can include artistic skills like painting, singing, playing an instrument, or writing poetry. It can also include sports like basketball, football, running or snow skiing. People can learn how to build things like cars or computers, or care for things like gardens or pets. Traveling is another popular hobby.
Most people spend a lot of time practicing and enjoying their hobbies, so they usually find friends who have similar interests. Places like universities and workplaces also see them as very important, because they believe that hobbies and interests give people identity and personality.
Because hobbies and interests are so important to Westerners, they are a great topic of conversation. If you ask someone what their hobbies and interests are, you are guaranteed to learn something interesting.
【共通问题文本】
The long-E vowel sound gives a lot of people trouble, and the important thing to remember is to keep the long-E LONG. Your lips should form a smile when you make this vowel sound. Practice saying: "Green" "Free" "Need" "Sleep" "Dream" "Complete".
Also, everyone can work on putting stronger consonant sounds on the ends of words – especially if those consonants are in the middle of a phrase or sentence.
Practice saying: "I need to feed the greedy sheep to keep him glad and fat."
