例如：Be able to read and write English.（具备英语读写能力。）
2.Lay：放下；搁下
相关词组：

1.Quickly：很快地

2.Lined up：排成一行；站队；排队（等候）

In，On这两个介词在表示地点时均含“在……”之意。
1）In表地点时，指在某一立体空间范围内。
例如：The telephone was in the little study on the ground floor.（电话在底楼的小书房里）
2）On表地点时，指某物与另一物表面相接触，或与某地方接壤等。
例如：The spider is walking on the ceiling.(蜘蛛在天花板上爬行。）

1.At all costs：不惜一切代价
例如：The bridge must be repaired within three days at all costs.（要不惜一切代价在三天内把桥修好。）
2.Save one's life：挽救某人的生命
例如：A team of doctors worked all night to save her life.（为挽救她的生命，一组医生工作了一整夜。）

例如：When they heard the police sirens, they all set about saving their own skins.（听到警车号笛，他们便纷纷逃窜。）
