Michael Jackson requested the anesthetic propofol to help him sleep at least a decade before he died from an overdose of the drug. That's according to a doctor testifying in a negligent hiring lawsuit filed by Jackson's mother against promoters AEG Live. Jackson died in 2009 from an overdose of propofol that was administered in the singer's bedroom by Conrad Murray, who was later convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage. Douglas made headlines this summer when he spoke out about one potential cause of throat cancer being oral sex. The couple who married in 2000, have two children together.
The 70th Venice Film Festival has officially started. Kicking off proceedings Wednesday evening was the world premiere of George Clooney and Sandra Bullock's latest offering, the 3D odyssey 'Gravity' which is showing out of competition. There are 20 films in contention for the coveted Golden Lion award. The festival runs until the 7th of September.
