Are these something of an embarrassment to the Russian government, given the record that they have? I mean the fact that there is this specific predetermined focus on these issues.
I think that if you ask Russian officials what they make of that, they would tell you that they are taking these issues seriously. You know there is an anti-corruption programme the government says it's carrying out. And from time to time you hear about various officials across the country being arrested, accused of corruption, various business people being put in the dock, put in jail for corruption. But the perception amongst the Russian people is that there isn't really a serious attempt to crack down on corruption and to boost transparency here. We just look at the results of recent polls from, you know, by Transparency International. One conducted this year has suggested that 77% of the Russian public doesn't believe that what their government says it's doing to try to battle corruption is actually working. And about 40% of the public believe that corruption is actually getting worse. And if you look at the league table on corruption, one that's put together by Transparency International, Russia comes pretty well down near the bottom of that.
