修长城的农民
万里长城是中国的象征，但经历了历史长河的洗礼，长城的许多部分已只剩杂草断砖。甘肃有位农民，自费修复长城，却陷入了大麻烦

One Chinese farmer Yang Yongfu decided to do something about it. And where the Great Wall bordered his own farmland began restoring it. After years of backbreaking work, he turned his section of the wall into a tourist attraction. But that put him on a collision course with the authorities. My colleague Pooneh Ghoddoosi spoke to Yang Yongfu through a translator and asked him what the wall looked like before he started the building work.
Before I started rebuilding, it had already been damaged by the winds and rains, as well as having suffered deliberate destruction by people. I felt that it would be a good thing if I could rebuild the wall. It would be good for the society.
To us, the Great Wall of China is one of the most amazing places in the world to go visit as a tourist. What does it exactly mean to you who live there right beside it?
I feel proud of it. I think I have made a great contribution to the rebuilding of the wall.
You were a farmer, I assume, not a very rich farmer. Did you know it was going to be this expensive and take this many years to rebuild it?
At that time I knew that I would meet a lot of financial difficulty if I chose to rebuild this part of the wall.
But you still decided to do it. Why?
I think it was because I thought it would make me feel a sense of pride in myself and I thought it was worthwhile. I have never regretted my decision. So still, deep down, I feel pride and a sense of great relief.中国的长城有部分区段实在破败不堪，以致于对其总长度的各种估算相差极大，从9000公里到21,000公里不等。一位中国农民杨永福决定要为此做点什么。就在长城与他庄稼地的交界处，他开始了修复工作。经过多年艰苦辛劳的努力，他把自己那一段的长城变成了一处旅游胜地。但这却令他处于官方机构的冲突对立面。我的同事普南·格都西通过一位翻译采访了杨永福，并问他在他开始修建以前，这段长城是什么样子。
在我修长城以前，它已经是风吹雨淋，又遭到人为破坏。我觉得如果我能把长城修复好，那就是做了件好事，是件对社会有益的事。
对我们而言，中国的长城是最令全世界游客赞叹的旅游胜地之一。你就住在它旁边，那么它对你而言到底意味着什么呢？
我为它感到骄傲。我觉得自己为长城的修复工作做出了重大贡献。
当时你是个农民，我想，也不是个很富裕的农民吧。你想到过修复它需要花这么多钱，这么多年吗？
当时我也想到，如果决定修建这段长城，我会遇到许多经济上的困难。
但你还是决定要做这件事，为什么呢？
我觉得能把这段长城修起来，能让我感到一种自豪，而且我觉得这是值得的。我从没为自己的决定后悔过。所以从内心深处，我还是觉得骄傲的，还有一种深深的宽慰。
