With Matt Lucas, David Walliams made "Little Britain" and "Come Fly With Me". After writing children's books and a memoir and appearing in stage productions, Walliams without Lucas, but with the comedy writing trio the Dawson Brothers has now created "Big School", a six part sitcom set in Greybridge Secondary School. Walliams himself plays Mr Church, a nerdish virginal chemistry teacher, who falls in love with a new French teacher but faces competition from the head of PE. David Walliams with Catherine Tate, as Miss Postern and Philip Glenister, as Mr Gunn in "Big School". Natalie Haynes who left the teaching career to become a comedian writer and 2013 Man Booker Prize judge has also been watching and is with me now. As I suggest there being working as half of a famous comic double act is sometimes rather difficult, how does David Walliams get away with it?
He's very likable in this I have to be honest. It is not very likable just because it's so incredibly old. It feels like it was written in the 70s or the 80s. I really didn't expect to hear somebody do it, you don't have to mental work here but it helps joke in this millennium. I have to be honest, and so it's really quite strange to get frolic show.
