I worked on a biodiversity survey in Sri Lanka and that's how I became interested in snails. One of the reasons that motivated me was there was lots of prospects for finding new species, rediscovering species which hadn't been seen for a long time. I really enjoy being outside in the field, scrounging about in the leaf litter. The terrain is often very difficult. The conditions are often foul. I'm not particularly sure-footed but that hasn't stopped me. If you're working in rainforest you've got to be prepared.
