Jackie Robinson retired from baseball in 1956 at the age of 37. He became a businessman, a political activist and a strong supporter of civil rights. In 1962, Jackie Robinson was elected to baseball's Hall of Fame, an honor given only to baseball's best players. He died in 1972.
