圣十字架宫是王室血腥历史的见证。历史上有名的苏格兰玛丽女王——号称当时最美丽的女人就曾住在城堡塔楼中。玛丽15岁嫁给法国王室，19岁丈夫去世又回到苏格兰，在民众拥戴中登上王位。玛丽女王在叛变中失掉王位并逃往英格兰，囚禁19年后被处死。玛丽女王的秘书在塔楼中被刺56刀而死，现在这里还立着一块指示牌。这就不难理解为什么圣十字架宫会经常传出闹鬼的传闻了。

Just look at the watch he's wearing around his neck and the expensive gloves he's holding in his hand. It might seem rather funereal to us these days that they're both dressed head to toe in black, but back then only the seriously wealthy could afford black clothes because black was the most expensive kind of dye.
Darnley was a good looking man.
