They have names like the Jurassic, the Cretaceous and the Pleistocene. All these upheavals left many traces in the rocks forming at the earth's surface at those times, stories of global change written by the fossils and the chemical makeup of the strata. So are we leaving a similar trail of clues?
We're causing a great diversity of changes to the earth. It's not simply global warming. We're causing creatures to become extinct by removing their habitats and also we're creating new strata by building roads and houses in cities. And all of these will form an assemblage of new strata, rock layers which will persist far into the future.
