We've discovered over the years that culinary tales can be powerful and revealing, making other cultures more human as well as casting a new light on our own. So when we came across an event in Bristol that was bringing people together from all over Europe to do just that, we couldn't resist. This Bristol gathering is part of a long-running project across Europe to help people get to grips with digital technology from apps to smartphones. In the UK one of the main centres for that work is the Watershed. Since the 1970s it's a centre for arts in the city. It's also home to Hannah Higginson. Her day job is to make sophisticated technology accessible, even enjoyable to people who want to be connected to the digital world. It was her idea to use food stories to make this happen and will you want to hear those stories with Hannah as our narrator.
So for one week in Bristol, we brought 13 people together from all over Europe to give them the opportunity to play with that technology, to use that technology and we chose in this case food as a theme because it's such a universal thing. Everyone has stories of food. And it was a great opportunity to bring people together that had never met before to share their stories of food.
