Everything falls into place. The charging lances and the sweep of the direction and the composition makes a hell of a lot more sense. At the moment it's truncated and short, it makes me think that it was a little even more staggering picture in days of old. The mad clouds are copied from his pictures and contemporary pictures. I've looked at all his surviving paintings and I've used this peculiar way of painting landscape, making a kind of arched top to this large pennant type flag and echoing that arched top of the flag in the landscape in the hills. It's an educated guess.
