                                A registered sex offender who barricaded himself in a home for days with three captives was shot to death Sunday. The three captives, an 18-year old woman, a 16-year-old girl and a four-year-old boy were rescued. Authorities in New Jersey say bodies of the children's mother and a 13-year-old boy were found in the home.
                       
                               
                       
                                Strong winds have pushed waves of ice into homes in parts of Southern Canada and Minnesota. An ice wave was caught on this amateur video. A number of homes were damaged.
                       
                               
                       
                                Congressional Republicans are calling for more investigations after the IRS disclosed that some employees had singled out conservative political groups. A watchdog report says high-level officials were aware as early as 2011.
                       
                               
                       
                                Demolition experts in Australia were forced to bring in excavators to help demolish a silo on Sunday after a controlled explosion failed to bring it down. The silo at an industrial site southwest of the city of Brisbane was left standing at an angle for about 40 minutes following the initial blast.
