【旷世杰作的秘密】圣罗马诺的战役1
Primavera保罗.乌彻洛最著名的作品是三副表现圣罗马诺战役的板上油画：《圣罗马诺的战役：尼科洛》（现藏于英国国家艺术画廊）表现了佛罗伦萨指挥官尼科洛英勇地反抗锡耶纳的进攻；《圣罗马诺的战役：契阿尔达被杀下马》（现藏于佛罗伦萨乌菲兹美术馆）表现了锡耶纳指挥官契阿尔达被佛罗伦萨的军官杀下马的情形；《圣罗马诺的战役：抵抗米切雷托·达·勾提尼欧拉.》（现藏于巴黎卢浮宫）表现的是佛罗伦萨城解围，佛罗伦萨军队在锡耶纳军队在度阿诺河时发起反攻，大败锡耶纳军队。这副藏在卢浮宫的《圣罗马诺战役》之三还带有很强的装饰画的元素，如左边士兵所穿的服装用了对比强烈的色彩，或者长矛的排放的样子形成了一系列的图案和移动，这都突出了英雄和他的骑士们。（或者众多长矛的排列组合——形成了与马匹及其骑手相呼应的一系列图案和动作。）

It was recorded for all time by one of the greatest painters of his age Paolo Uccello.
If you look at the sheer mass in that painting you see made visible the crush of war bones being compacted by this great mass of volume.
You see inside the helmets to these surprisingly young, fragile looking faces. Uccello realises that young soldiers were very often the victims they're the ones that were going to be destroyed most easily.
Uccello's great work was not merely an extraordinary depiction of war it was on the cutting edge of artistic know-how.
