They'll face Juventus later in the Champions League, knowing the victory would send them through to the last 16. The defending champions lost 2-1 at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, but Cahill says the manager is not to blame.
"From last year, when obviously he took the job, he did tremendously well, achieved such a lot in such a short space of time since he took over. We started the campaign really well, and he's definitely the right man. He's proved it last year and I'm sure he will prove it again this year."
Shakhtar Donetsk atop with Chelsea second and Juventus third, but only one point separates the top three in Group E, and Juven midfielder Claudio Marchisio says it's one of biggest games in their seasons so far.
"For us, it's the most important match of the year so far, we want to get through this round, but we know we will be playing against the European Champions, they are a team that has not only won this great trophy, but there has been a big investment to improve their team even more.
