News reports say at least three people died in the compound, although U.S. officials confirmed only two deaths, both Liberians. The State Department called on Mr. Taylor to observe the terms of a week-old cease-fire agreement. The truce collapsed after Mr. Taylor refused to step down early to make way for an interim government.
