Last night the Taliban mounted an assault on Camp Bastion, a remote but heavily-guarded military centre in Afghanistan which houses 20,000 to 30,000 people. In a statement, the Taliban said the attack was revenge against Americans for the anti-prophet movie. Julian Marshall spoke to Brigadier General Gunter Katz, the International Security Assistance Force's spokesman, in Kabul.
"The insurgents fired small arms and indirect fire on the air field during that fight. Very sadly, we lost two of our US marines and a couple of airplanes and a couple of buildings were damaged. A total of 18 insurgents have been killed. One has been wounded and he's been detained right now."
"How many Taliban fighters were involved in this attack? Because Camp Bastion is a big place. "
"Well, again first of all, we look into the incident right now.
