It's another of those American-TV-to-big-screen adaptations based on a daytime series that ran in the late 60s and early 70s. The gothic Collins family - decadent and reclusive adults with problem children live in a spooky mansion. Back to the 1970s, from the undead comes a vampire forebear - Barnabas Collins, Johnny Depp naturally, to rescue the family fortunes with some supernatural tricks, quaint dialogue and a proposal of the standby remedy for grand family's falling from favour.

"I've always found Tim's work to be really really strongly laced with humour. All the dark stuff, and as you get to know that Tim is a person - he's such a funny guy.
