It's a bright spring day in Tokyo, and millions of commuters are on their way to work on the world's busiest subway system. None of them is yet aware of the terrible, science fiction-style nightmare that's about to unfold.
"There was some kind of liquid on the floor. And when I got off the train, I couldn't see any more."
"There was no smell, but I couldn't breathe."
"At first, most people just coughed. Then people began to panic. The worst hit fell down to the ground."
What no one yet realised was that they were suffering the effects of nerve gas poisoning. Members ofa Japanese religious group had dropped plastic bags containing sarin liquid on the floors of five different trains. As the liquid evaporated, passengers began inhaling the deadly fumes. One of those affected was Atsushi Sakahara.
"I felt sort of nausea, and then also a headache, and then I started losing focus."
That day Atsushi's life changed forever. But as he left his house in the morning he was still an ambitious, enthusiastic young man who was looking forward to the day ahead at the large advertising agency where he worked.1995年3月,一个当时还籍籍无名的日本宗教团体的成员在东京地铁上发起了一场神经毒气袭击。
