Nine of them were children.
President Barack Obama has apologised and expressed his shock of the killings. Afghanistan's President Karzai has called the attacks unforgivable, and he sent a team of officials to investigate the killings.
And today the Afghan parliament has issued its own strongly-worded resolution. It said people had lost their patience for the actions of foreign troops and that this particular soldier must be tried publicly in an Afghan court. One Afghan MP Shagul Rezai warned this attack would have serious and far-reaching effects on the country's relationship with the US.
"This kind of incident will have a negative impact and of course it will create mistrust between the people and the coalition forces. It will have a negative impact on the ongoing negotiations with regard to strategic partnership."
The international force ISAF has promised a thorough investigation. But one of its spokesmen, Captain Justin Brockhoff, acknowledged that significant damage had been done to relations with the Afghan authorities.但是首先要说的是，在阿富汗又掀起反美高潮。周日早晨，在阿富汗南部坎大哈省一名美国士兵突然在他的基地附近暴走。16名平民在家内被枪击身亡，其中九名是儿童。
