Even though it's a holy place, it's located on the busiest street of my hometown. But from the moment you enter the temple, you can feel calm and peaceful.
The temple, like many other Chinese structures, faces south and the front gate is guarded by two stone lions. Entering the front hall, you'll see four huge sculptures made of wood, two on each side. They are the Four Heavenly Kings.
The Great Hall is separated from the front hall with a courtyard. There are lots of trees in the courtyard, which makes the yard very pleasant.
The Great Hall stands on a set of plinth and its roof is supported by enormous pillars. The main altar can be found there. You'll see a Buddha seated between two of his students. On the east and west sides of the walls of this Great Hall, you will see a variety of statues and paintings.
There is also an eight-sided pagoda with inscriptions on its walls.
This temple offers cultural services as well, including classes about Chinese paintings and antiques. So you see, it's not only religious, it's also educational and fun.
